Sewing Tips Make your liner reversible! This is a great idea for several reasons: o Get two liners in one! I like to use seasonal fabrics (i.e. a Fall print on one side and a Christmas print on the other) or combine a stripe with a floral or toile print. Omit the optional ruffling or use solid colored ruffling or cording to coordinate with both fabrics. o All the seams are hidden inside the liner for a quality, custom look. o No tedious bias binding is needed around the handle wells! Just sew with right sides together, trim and clip curves, turn right side out and press! Easy! v Always pre-wash and press any washable fabric before you get started, especially if you will store food in your basket or if you plan on washing your liner after it's made. v If you use decorator-weight fabric for your liner, use a lightweight lining fabric to reduce bulk. v If you use lighter weight cotton or quilting-type fabric, use a fabric of similar weight for the lining for a more substantial liner. v If you don't have a plastic protector, use a good heavyweight interfacing for your stand-up style liner. I like Craft Bond. (Note: interfacing is not recommended for baskets with inverted bottoms, such as the Fruit baskets). v Use purchased grosgrain ribbon or bias binding for handle ties to save time. Make your own ties from fabric, or use our button and loop closure instructions. v Cover your own cording for use around the top edge of a stand-up style liner.
